How many here use additional airstones in their tanks other than what may be used in sponge filters? I always thought more aeration was better but I read a post on DAAH that said airstones/diffusers (tiny bubbles) are bad for discus.

Commets please.

I don't know why they'd be bad for discus. I just use sponge filters and aqua clears. You can get plenty of water motion with either and I want as little in the tank as possible.

You know why I don't like airstones? It causes a fine spray which dries and produces a white film on the edge of the tank. I prefer powerheads.

:bounce2: :bounce2: I put in a linear air pump & inverter/battery & use lotsa airstones in addition to multi sponge filters. Haven't had any problems, (the inverter worked well BTW 2 wks ago in power outage) no ploblem with sprays & my fish do like to play in the moving water. lol, Dottie ;D ;D
