Show quality or not?

Here is my male, i am wondering though if he is show quality because in a month or two the aca convention is in my town. I think i might want ot show him.... just wanted to see what everybody thought. Nitpick away!!! :)

Nice fish fishboy, but i'm sorry to say i don't think that fish is show quality. Cary's right, if your discus is not huge you don't stand a chance. The fins are also not round enough in my opinion.

Just curious because I haven't had discus in a while. How big is "huge" today? What was the approximate diameter of that grand champion?

Hi Jay,

That grand champion was about 6.5 to 7" sl. So not huge, but quite big. The very largest discus at the show was easy 7" sl, but didn't quite have the quality to beat that bd. The judgeing points alloted to size is on a sliding scale according to the rules we follow here in Oz, what that means is a 20cm body length discus gets 20 points, but a 15cm body size discus will not get 15 points, but more likely 8 or so points.

Hes probably about 6 inches from head to tail. Not big enough... ohwell :)
