I am sorry to tell you all they ate the eggs 48hrs after the spawned. But as this was there first spawn I still hold high hopes of them getting better at it. I will keep you posted on how they are doing. I will also try and get some better shots of the parents now they do not have the eggs as I did not want to upset them too much while they had the eggs.

Well the next update in the flame of the forest spawn is that they spawned again on Saturday and then ate the eggs on Sunday. I think next spawn I will protect the eggs so I can actually see if they are fertilised eggs or not.

Ann: What's the origin of Flame of Forest? The male and the female came from 2 different sources. Not from the same parents. Are they wild fish ?

HEy Guys

Im just waiting on some of these fish myself.
The flame of the forest as far as I understand it are a cross between a red eddy and a solid red, making a very nice fish. I have heard many good things about this fish and hope people can post up more on them

cheers

Nick: Your fame 1 Pic is a Curipera corss. He has the distinct features on the operculum where a line loop around the eyes and a short one on top of it. This can breed true from the curipera. The only differenence of the Frame of Forest is lacking the wild black dosal fin with some white rim around the fins of the Curipera. You can compared to the my pic. You've got yourself a solid red fish. Excellent breeders judging from the color patten of the abdomen which tells you the color of the next generation. Most of yours are colored and patterned. One to keep.

nice i like the red on them

09-04-2003, 08:01 AM
Nick: If he was sold as a Royal Green and I don't see a touch of green in him. Most probably came from a Turquoise parents and he's a flow-back from the Red Alenquer from the previous generation. He may develope a faint turquoise strips when he mature. Nice fish. I like this kind of fish rather than the real Royal blue. Sometime they were fed with red color enhanced food and named as "Pink Lady" in Asia.

HI Jim,

This guy is probably one of my most interesting young fish, he is now about 3 inches . I honestly expected the red to fade and a golden green to develop but its gone the other way.

He has a true red colour I cant wait for him too mature. No fine patterns on him as yet.

A true wait and see with this guy

cheers

Nick
