Today i went down to the local water board and got a report of the water.
Now the question is how the hell does one understand it.
I have included it below i would like to know if this water is suitable for discus and other SA cichlids. Could anyone also tell me the kH, gH of this.
all values are in mg/L

Hi there!

Correct me if I am wrong but your water sounds like Sydney water. If you go to the Sydney water website, look up the Prospect resurvoir disctribution analysis and if it is similar to yours then they will be fine! Actually we are very blessed with good stable water in Australia (most areas).

I am pretty sure you do not have to resort to RO.

Sorry I cannot be more helpful than that, however if the report in terms of hardness and alkalinity is similar to water at Broken Hill, with no major differences in other chemicals then they should be fine.

Cheers!

You can grow out juveniles discus in that water, but will need an RO unit to soften the water when you are ready to breed (eggs won't hatch)
