Hi folks,

Gonna storm y'all with a bunch of pics. I'd love to hear what you think. Pictured is the baby tank which holds 9 Violet Reflection babies - they are the big guys with the very, very feint stress bars and the color developing in a striated fasion. The little guys sans stress bars are Super Angel Diamonds. They've been under my care for a few weeks now and they have grown tremendously. The VRs were smaller than the SADs as pictured here when they arrived, so ...

Hi Dred!

I love the 3 gargoyles...see no eveil, hear no evil, and speak no evil! I have seen lots of tank decorations... but gothic is definetly a new one! :)

as for the fish... They look to be a pretty good bunch of fish... some closer shots would be real helpful though.

they look to be swimming around very happily and their color is good... always a good sign.

Good luck with them, and please post lots of pictures, It will be interesting to see how they grow for you.

take care,
al

Nice shapes w/rounded bellies. Keep up the good work Milton.

David, I think he just purchased these fish recently...not in 2002.

Thanks guys - I love them. Will definately continue posting pics as they grow. ...and, I'll try to remember to set the correct date in the camera, but I did get the day and month correct <smile>. And, I couldn't resist the gargoyles - particularly those ... these babies live in my bedroom <LOL>. It's fun to look over and see them cuddl'n with the gargoyles as they sleep.

Smile - just got my first Discus the saturday b4 our US Memorial Day Holiday, and these came home the following thursday. They were tiny (nickels and quarters). I'm amazed by their growth and their appetite. <Smile> Folks here promised me that they'd respond to clean water ... well ... I'm a believer. And, they keep getting rounder every day <smile>.

Very nice fish. Good shape and size. The gargoyles really bring the blue color out from them. No eveil dare to go near them. I like them. Does the Violet Relection has a bronze color body and stress bars?

Hi Jimmy,

Thanks. I'm a little color blind, but yes, a sort of bronze tone. They also appear with a dusted on electric blue striation pattern or a very mystical violet depending on how the light strikes - they certainly deserve the name violet reflection as it describes their current coloration perfectly. And, you can tell they have stress bars although they have never "shown" them.

They will eventually grow into what I can only describe as a noticeable and very pretty color variation on a high bodied blue diamond theme - just noticeably purplish. But, comparing the juvenile SADs with the VRs, it sure appears that they come from unrelated strains.

Do you call my BD cross a violet reflection. Do they resemble my fish?
Jimmy.

Jimmy,

That's a gorgeous fish. It's much more red than I expect from the VR. Danny has a picture of a mature VR on his website: http://www.discusfantasy.com

But I really like that fish - let me know if you have fry available.

Dred: Thanks for the link. I thought the VR is actually Violet in color. The VR in Denny's site looks like a Blue Knight or Relection "D" Wayne used to call them. I could be wrong. I usually have some flow backs from the BD spawn and I always give them to the LFS and sell as Cobalt. Maybe I should change the name. The pinkish look on my fish is actually the result of Naturose given by accident. It was a mix up of label on beefheart. He should have a lighter color with a touch of Brooze.Thanks.
Jimmy.
