I have been reading hear for ages, trying to soak up a lot of information, and by september, i hope to have discus of my own. I keep other SA cichlids no prob. Im still planning everything out, but I would like to know what people think of my water quality.

Alkalinity, bicarbonate as HCO3 180 mg/L
Alkalinity, total as CaCO3 150 mg/L
Hardness total as CaCO3 180 mg/L
Calcium total as Ca by ICP-Trace 46mg/L
magnesium total as Mg by ICP-Trace 16 mg/L

pH of 7.7

I retyped the information that seemed relevant off of the analytical report of the water.

Thanks in advance!

Good water to grow out juveniles. You may even get decent hatch rates.

:D good water!?!?! yay! I have always been nervous and apprehensive about discus, and assumed that my water would be a concern. another reason i thought this may be detrimental to a soft-water native fish is that african cichlids breed here so readily. Im going to keep reading and hopefully i can get some tank raised F1's RSG from someone on a forum, or a breeder.

this is :::QUITE::: an encouragement!
