I was just curious if gh and/or kh levels have to be within a certain parameter to add CO2??

Also curious if anyone has tried or experimented with the new product out by Hagen called nutrafin co2??

Thanks!!

Your peram dont have to be in certain level howver the Kh will dictate the amount of CO2 in ppm you can inject into the water here is a good page that will explain the safe levles of Co2 for you tank given the Kh of the Tank water .... http://www.csd.net/~cgadd/aqua/art_plant_co2chart.htm

It works off your PH value and KH value too how much CO2 you have too add eg: water with PH 6.8 and KH 6 would need 28.0mgl of CO2, I have a friend using those CO2 units and there working for him depending on the size of the tank you may need more than one there only draw back is you cant switch them off at night. 8)

KH is the indicator for your aquariums capability to buffer acids. In this case, Carbonic Acid, which is produced when injecting CO2. You can estimate your CO2 levels to a fairly accurate degree by comparing your KH and pH values. For example, my tank has a KH of 2 and I want my CO2 levels to be around 20ppm so I add enough CO2 to get my pH down to 6.5.

Go to www.sfbaaps.com and check out the chart in their referrence section. I think the link to Chuck Gadd's site is a good one too.
