View Full Version : Does the female eat while guarding eggs?

My female discus laid a nice amount of eggs (compared to my other female discus) last night. (I always thought she was a he because she hung out with another female when she laid her eggs but instead of fertilizing the eggs ate them instead. So I was completely surprised to seeing her lay eggs last night... I hope this makes sense.) Since last night, she's been diligently caring and guarding the eggs, and the amount of eggs still present on the glass looks to be the same amount from last night. But she hasn't eaten at all, and I'm wondering if she will eat when the eggs are gone. Thanks.

Hi Barbara and welcome to SimpyDiscus

My discus eat less while tending eggs - I usually offer black worms twice a day.
