I have been trying to find ways to buy frozen food cheaply. I go through quite a bit of it. Probably around 1lb of hikari blood worms every 2-3 days.

I just place an order with Jeff young last week. His price is the cheapest around $5.99 for 1lb. (cheaper than Dan and Dr Smith and Foster) Even when I calculate the shipping his still came out cheaper. Plus you can not beat his customer service.

I was originally suppose to receive them on tuesday but there was a problem. Jeff got a hold of me right away and told them they were delayed and would not be here til wednesday.

I got them here today. They were packed really well and still as solid as a rock. (I live on the east coast and they came all the way from the west coast.) I know jeff orders new food every week so the products are fresh and not sitting around. Plus he threw in a couple of free packs of BH and BS.

If you are looking for frozen I would recommend giving jeff a try...

Thanks for everything Jeff.

I was looking to also buy Hikari bloodworms.
What was the rock bottom price you received per pack?
What were the rock bottom prices the others going
to be?

Baron,

I have bought other blood worms and found hikari to be the cleanest. I don't want to take chances considering how bloodworms are harvested. I don't even use the San francisco or Ocean Nutritrion kind either. Strictly Hikari for me.

O,

Jeff contact info.

or 323-8642637 if you want to IM him. It is Jeff.

Johnlee,

Since you live in Southern CA. I would definetely get in touch with him. Maybe you can pick up a couple of packs and forgo the shipping cost.

I live in Northern California. A few months ago, we drove down to Disneyland, and on our return trip, I stopped by Jeff's to pick up some frozen bloodworms, brine shrimp etc. Everything was frozen solid when we arrived home. The products were fresh and it was good meeting Jeff!

JohnLee,

Here is a list and websites of different providers of frozen foods... I think you can go to their websites and get the information of unit price and shipping cost to get a good breakdown of "total price per unit"....

HTH,
Tad

Tad,
Thank you. After reading

"I just place an order with Jeff young last week. His price is the cheapest around $5.99 for 1lb. (cheaper than Dan and Dr Smith and Foster) Even when I calculate the shipping his still came out cheaper"

I was just wanting to see the difference. I checked out the three
places and caculated the best I could from their sites. I found
Aquatic Foods to cost the least with S & H included for 25 packs.

Jeffs site; http://www.discusfarm.us/ AT $ 8.55 ea

Dans site:
http://aquaticfoods.com/worms.html AT $ 7.20 ea

Fosters and Smiths: AT $ 8.59 ea
http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/sub.cfm?siteid=6&pcatid=4220

Thanks again for helping me make my choice.
I'll post to to let everyone know how it all worked out
after ordering.

Johnlee.

I posted about my own personal experiences. I just recheck Dan' website and he has new special on there that was not available when I ordered. The 179.95 and the 119.95 was something that was added this week. So when I ordered last week those prices were not available. Orginally the special was 25 for 199.95 which is still 8.00 each.

Second. Did you call Jeff and get a shipping rate? I can't imagine that his bloodworms (5.99) would add 2.56 for shipping cost each. Esp considering you live in Southern CA and he is not that far away. I went to the UPS web site. I put in LA for Jeff and San Diego for your location. On ground service (ground is 1 day for that range) I got a rate of 7.44 for a 15lb box.

So taking your prices....

Dan is 7.20

Jeff is 6.48.

In your case Jeff is cheaper for you.

I just went from the packing and shipping info off of
his web site.
I don't think he can ship 25 1-lb packs and shipping box
for 15-lbs shipping weight.
To be honest I would never
trust UPS ground service when it came to live or frozen.
When I order blackworms Dan uses Airborne Express.
much safer then UPS ground. Not worth trying to save a few $.

In fact I ordered the frozen at 2:30 today and Dan emailed back confirming I would have it by 10:00 tomorrow. If its anything like his blackworm service I'm sure they'll be here. but we'll see.

Johnlee,

Don't get me wrong. I like Dan. I order CBW from him and his services are great. In my case it was just cheaper to go with Jeff. I am sure you will have good luck with Dan also. I have used UPS for frozen food and good services. They are not bad. I would roll the dices with UPS over Airborne anyday of the week. But that is my personal experience.

We use to ship replacement printers using airborne because it was cheaper. Well we found out why their shipping was cheaper. Half of the freight arrived damaged or late. We switch back to UPS after 6 months.

I know Dan guarentee his services so no need for concern on your part. If Dan frozen are like his CBW I am sure you will be happy with it.

Well my frozen from Dan didn't arrive by 10:00 am.
It arrived around 10:30, not bad.
I must say that when I opened the box every pack was frozen solid as if they had never left the freezer.
Thanks for the service and the prices Dan
