Hey Carol, I found a new use for my extra canister filter. We are still new at this and dont have our gravity feed water storage set up yet so we are still working with garbage can storage. My new filstar 2 works just great as a water pump for transfering water from the storage cans to the tanks. Beats dipping and dripping...lol. Just have to make sure to unplug the filter before it runs dry. ;D ;D ;D

Lol, I'll remember that when one of my submersible water pumps fail

Here's another use for spare canister filters(well, Fluval -04 series anyway).

1. Remove head/motor(its only going to leak anyway).
2. Empty contents of base into garbage.

3. Discard hoses and that ridiculous siphon tube, you know, the one that can detach when you're cleaning inside the tank.

4. Drill several holes in bottom of base.

5. Add 1" layer of stones for drainage.

6. Add favorite potting mix.

7.Plant something colorful & water regularly.

Following these directions will give you years of untroubled service from your Fluval canister filter!!

:vanish: ;D :) ;D ;) :D :) :P :-*
