Bleach

What kind of bleach is used for strilising tanks and equipment.
Here in india we get powder based bleach.
I would like to know what other people use and what are the doses.

I use liquid Chlorine bleach from the store.

We here get detergent based bleach, will that be ok.

You would have to make sure to rinse really, really good.

Other common items that you might use to sterilize a tank are rubbing alcohol, peroxide and even table salt

but will salt sterilize as good as bleach.
Ok now that you have given me 4 options which one is the best.
I wish to wash gravel, canister filter, filtre substrate, heaters, sponge, filter pipeing and water changing hoses ect.

For Sponges microwave is best. 3 minutes very wet sponges.

I vote for bleach for the tank, hoses, etc. Maybe bake the gravel (or throw it away)
