breeding pair fighting

i have a breeding pair that r fighting, the female had been sick but is now better i removed the male and have now returned him they are biting each others mouths but dont seem to be causing any damage is this normal or should i seperate them :D

are they locking jaws or just picking at each other? could be normal foreplay. if neither one looks stressed or tries to hide from the other, i'd let it go. if it gets worse rearrange the tank, add a mirror to one side, or move them both. anything you can think of to change up the scenery.
