I want to get a large air pump and run all of my tanks from a single source....what is the best way to go about this?? What do I need besides the pump(which I'm going to get from Jason :))???

:bounce2: :bounce2: :bounce2: Here's what I did with lotsa help from my daughter & son-in-law. The 26w linear piston air pump from Jehmco, placed above all the tanks for safety with PVC 1" (Ithink) run under the first floor in the basement, up to the 5 tanks in the LR, & 3 in kitchen. Plenty of air for more if I go there, hahahahaha! I run sev'l sponges & airstones in every tank & have an inverter & battery hooked up for power outages. No generator yet! I love this system, do use other filters, but no worry with lotsa sponges, lol, Dottie ;D ;D

I am currently using the 100 watt linear pump from Jemco. Its providing enough air for 40 tanks with 2-3 sponge filters each. I'm using a closed loop design. Very quiet and compared to a blower, much cheaper to run.

Thanks, guys!

How do you attach the airline to the PVC?....what kind of valves and where would I get them?.....do you just bleed off excess air by venting a valve into the atmosphere??

brass valves.

Drill a hole into the PVC, lightly tap the hole using a tap and die set, screw in the valve. :)

:bounce2: :bounce2: :bounce2: James, yes do the brass valves, think thats what mine are. John @ Jehmco has them & the die to tap in with after you drill the hole. Just do not get the plastic! Easy to add more valves anytime. & I have left one open for the extra air. http://Jehmco.com lol, Dottie ;D ;D ;D

James. Use the waste air to aggitate your storage barrels. I run the waste air from my pump to my barrel and it moves the water around like you would not believe. I look at it as free aggitation. ;)

Jason.

What is that white thing sticking up? Is that some kinda restrictor or muffler?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I THINK it's a silencer... :idea2:

both of you are correct.

its a 1/2" threaded diffuser a) provides a little backpressure(the valve is for adjusting the flow) b) keeps the excess air quiet
