don't do either. wait & buy a 55 or better yet, a 75 gal. then buy 6 or 8 youngins. you really can't observe their natural behavior with only a couple discus...

Does it really make that big of a difference in the behavior. If that is the case I have a empty 110gallon I will put them in then. But I need to drill it for overflow first.

These aren't breeding pair. Going to start with youngsters just wanted to know how many adults would work in a 29gal when full grown.

You could keep 4 adults in a 29g w/ daily water changes, but once a pair formed you would remove the other 2 and use it as a breeding tank. jmo, J.T.

in most cases, it does. discus are naturally social animals, and live in groups in the wild. if you really want the experience of discus, set up that 110gal, and get as many as you can afford, or as many that will fit in that tank. you could keep six in that 29 when they're small, provided you make large daily water changes. that size of tank is less forgiving of missed wcs & cleanings. why do you want to predrill the 110?

I want to drill the tank for overflow because I like to use sumps they just come is so handy for water changes and such and I don't like the hang on the back overflow boxes.
