ps. have a problem... dad doesn't believe that discus can get spooked, so sometimes they still get spooked by him whenever he changes water for his other tanks. he keeps flowerhorn ... duh

Just curious, did you buy them as a pair? I was wondering how you know the sexes onthem?

bought a pair of juve goldies but one died on me (hexa).
the one left was more aggressive and from the fin dimensions, i guessed it to be male.

went to Chai Discus and told the owner i was looking for a female.
he told me to choose and will tell me whether male or female.
trusted him so no questions asked when the one i chose was "confirmed" as female.

only real confirmation came when a couple weeks back, they exhibited spawning behaviour. from their tubes, their sexes were confirmed.
you could say that i was pretty fortunate to be able to get a pair that way :D
