SOMEBODY PLEASE HELP. I'M IN THE PROCESS OF DOING A WATER CHANGE ON MY 40 GALLON TANK. i WAS CLEANING THE GLASS, WHEN I NOTICED THESE LITTE BUGS ALL OVER THE GLASS!!! tHEY ARE NOT LIKE PARASITE BUGS. THEY ARE LIKE BUG BUGS!!! LIKE A NAT LOOKING THING, DOES NOT LOOK LIKE A WATER BUG OF ANY TYPE. LOOKS LIKE THE NATS THAT BOTHER OUTSIDE BUT A LITTLE LONGER IN SHAPE!!!

Rinse filters, clean tank really, really good. Feed less.

Generally bugs, worms, planaria and copepods in the tank means you are feeding too much and/or not cleaning enough. Generally they are a "clean-up" crew and don't harm the discus . . . . but are a warning. Do as I said and you should see less and less each day. They will come back again (numbers increase) if you don't maintain tank/monitor food.

Carols advice is right on here Nancy. Odds are what you are seeing is something like copepods. They are ubiquitous bugs in everyones tanks. Tank hygene keeps their numbers in check.
