I guess this is algae??
Is it harmful? Will it take over?? Would algae eaters eat it? If so, what would be best with the discus??
Thanks

Those big round alga in the first picture will likely take over the tank, especially if you feed them well.
The second, no, not likely. It looks almost more like a fungus, is that wood new? Sometimes new wood gets a fluffy whitish fungus on it for a little while which goes away after a little while.
An algae eater wouldn't be a bad idea in there though. You might try a Clown Pleco or Siamese Algae Eaters, NOT CHINESE A.E., if you can find them.
Best,
Phil

;D
Thanks Phil & Matt
We will try to control those big round alga.
Yes the wood was new (mangrove root) and we will be purchasing some algae eaters today.
Thanks,
Lesley
