Hi all,
I just got back from "The savings place", K-mart, and I picked up a couple cool little things on CLEARANCE for $15 duckets and $3.50. The fiteen dolla item is a Blackmax live bait aerator small bilge pump and fountain spray head combo that is prewired with battery terminal clamps to connect to a marine/car battery and the other is a "D" cell battery airpump(this lasts for 40 hours on 1 D-cell). They have a couple more, so if anyone wants one, let me know and I will pick them up and ship to people who want to send me cost + shipping. I figure I don't get many power outages here, but I picked one of each up just in case. Also, I know some of you others are having a heck of a time with power issues and thought I'd help out if anyone needs it. If you have a K-mart near you, go to the boat supply area and look for the misc items they sell......that's where I found them.

Very cool idea! I was thinking also about a 12V source for heaters and airpumps but more along the lines of picking up discus (driving a long distance for example). This you can use both ways, driving or power outage. Its your basic 12V to 120V invertor used in cars to power labtops and whatnot. So why not use it for a heater or two and airpump? For $60cdn you can get a 400W inverter (thats around $40US btw).

In the case of a power outage, you can remove your car battery or have a spare car battery and power up your heaters and air pump. You can get up to 1750W inverters. A 400W inverter should handle 4 100W heaters. Not sure how many Watts an air pump is but that depends on the size of the air pump anyways.

Just a thought!

This is an old obsolete manual resusitation bag from the hospital. A new disposal bag cost about $20. It pumps a litre of air each time. We can use this to ventilate and keep patient alive for hours. I can never run out of air. Check with your local hospital or home care company for any out of date items. Just an idea.
