I don't know if this is the right place to post this but I just needed some information. I have recently spotted a strange organism in my livebeared tank.
There is this long red worm that shows up once in a while. It goes all over the place. Sometimes it wraps aroud the plants, sometimes I see it in the breeder trap and sometimes just hanging around the top of the tank at water level. I don't know where it came from but I thought maybe it could be an overgrown black worm.
Usually I feed them flakes but once in a while I treat them with some leftover black worms from my discus.
Now in my discus tank I don't see any..maybe the discus eat them since they are bigger fish?

Any idea what this may be?

Thanks, Tom

Not a black worm - maybe a bristle worm?

Thanks guys but no, these things are thin, kinda flat and long appx 1 ~3 inches. I found a bunch of them last night while doing a WC. When they feel threatened, they curl up into a little red wad.

Darn, I'll try to get a pic next time.

thats a parasitic worm.. ive had them before

they swim very snakelike and are very skinny??
if so, just net them and rinse them down the sink..
