Hey Guys.....

I thought this was rather strange :o

I've been noticing small blotches that looked like broken spots in the slime coats on a few of my Adult Discus .... kinda had me worried.

I found the culprite that was causing it..... this poor little fellow doesn't have a clue who his daddy is ;D

as you can see..... that male even got dark for that little fellow....... Discus can sure be a little strange.... there's always something they go and do that makes ya wonder ;)

Hi Henry

Thanks ;) Actually I have shipped a couple times without any losses :bounce: I guess I'll ship again when ever I have some Discus to get rid of ::)

Hiyas Ping ;D

Thanks.... his daddy's in there somewhere...... but I don't think the little fella cares who his daddy is ;D I just thought it was kinda neat that one of the other Adults would let him feed off of his slime that way especially one that ain't his ;)

That little dude is a menace!

;)

Gotta be careful - he might keep up his taste for slime coat and never go for the blackworms!

Gorgeous fish you got, Beth. As always!!!

I also saw pics of your tank setup in another thread. Nice big tank you have. I can only wish I got a tank like yours... Oh well, dream on! :blockhead: I hope you don't mind but I've got a few questions to ask about your setup... ;D

It looks like there are at least 36 discus in your 135/150 tank! I am really curious as to how you keep that tank clean, and how to keep the fish fed. :inquisitive: (I counted one bio-sponge, 2 vertical water filtration intake, and two white PVC tubing that I'm not familiar with - but is that all? Did I miss anything?)

About this male that got dark for that little fellow, it looks white in the picture - is it the lighting, or is the discus very light blue in color? Personally I like the orange/red one better (the one that is right next to the foster dad). What strand is that one - an "F2 WGxBD"? ??? How big and how old is it?

Sigh. Someday I will move back into a bigger place and get meself a nice big tank just like yours! Not much I can do for now though.... Thanks again for sharing the pics!!! ;)

hmmmmm........ I counted closer to 45 Discus in that tank.... :o "135gal" ........... It's really not hard to keep a tank this size clean, I guess ya just have to really have to enjoy the hobby as much as I do ;)

I have 2 very large hob type filters.... just a little larger than the AC 500's, 1 Hydro V sponge filter and a Fluval 404 canister filter .... probably overkill but it's working for me ;)

Those PVC things are breeding cones for the Adults.... or to show me who may be interested in pairing off.

That male is light blue normally, he tends to be a little darker blue when he's carrying fry.

The orange one is a proven female and mom to several in that tank .... she's an F1 Wild Green X Blue Diamond..... she's right at 2 years old give or take a little. I'm guessing she's about 5 1/2 to 6 inches...... just a guess....

Here's a couple of older shots of her with her Male which is also F1 WG x BD..... her sibling :o

This is the male with his female that's being harassed in the pic up top.... also both WG x BD siblings
