Is normal for 1 discus to not darken up after laying eggs? The dark body color discus would guard the eggs while the light body color discus would be at the other end of the tank. I notice the dark color one tend to chase the light color one away randomly.

This is a new pair of redss (approx 1 year old). They have lay 5 times (including this one) in the last couple of months, but the light color discus would always eat the eggs during the 2nd night just before light out.

Any info would be great.

Thanks

I took out the light color discus lastnight, but the dark color discus became light in color, and ate the eggs the next night.

if you need babies, either give them some time to get right or put wire mesh over the cone or pipe so they cannot eat the eggs, by seeing wrigglers they can develop parental instincts HTH
