cycling with cold water?

can i start cycling the tank with cold water because i have not yet purchased a heater but i have a canister filter going on?

Hi,
Yes, you can start. Bacteria grow slower at lower temps though, so it may take longer. It will happen though, as the bacteria grow in cold rivers and lakes too

Hi Boy discus, as for cycling water, I have done it at room temperature and it worked fine, however i guess it all depends on what your room temperature is.
