Age and sex

Hello to all

I have just purchased my first few Discus, my 2 torquise are approx 50cm long and my 2 tigers are 25cm long. Also how old would mine be?

How do I tell male from female and how old do they have to be before they start breeding.

After going thru this web site and I so amazed at the different types of Discus available. If I knew how amazing they look I would have got into them years ago

You can't really tell the age from the size, because they could be runted or they could be like extra growth. A 2 year old fish could be 7 inches and anotehr 2 year old fish could be 4 inches. You can't tell if they are amle or female till they spawn and you seen teh tubes. Or you see the female laying eggs. here's a picture of the female sex organ.

If you have a 50 cm discus, you must be the best discus grower ever! I dont think cary grows em out that big :o!!!
