fish first day

is it normal for a fish for the first day just to stay at one spot or is it a sign of death ?

Well, the day i first got my discus they layed on the bottom of the tank on their sides for about 10 minutes. Then i checked about an hour later and they were roaming around the aquarium. Of course the lights were off, it makes them more comfortable. I'd say maybe something is stressing them, were the lights on? Were you around them too much? I try to keep my discus alone when i first get them, that way they can get use to the new environment without some huge creatue (me) staring at them. Just keep the lights off, until they seem active and normal
