For many of us going to the ACA, it will be a mini vacation of sorts .... I thought maybe we could get a thread going talking about the non-discus things in the area..

Maybe it will help convince some borderline spouses that Denvers the place to go on that family vacation..

;D ;D ;D ;D

ps..This should help answer your question Mike!

How about horse riding? i used to have dressage and
3-day-event horses before fish -

(ran out of room tho - well i only had 4 horses - why did mum complain - alot cheaper than keeping discus).

Would love to ride in Colorado - seen things on TV - looks beautiful.

I already put the idea into my wife's head. I haven't talked her into it yet. I need some ideas why she would be interested in going to Colorado.

Hahahhahahahaha....Unlimited shopping?
NO. I need the mola to buy more discus. I need pics of the place to entice her to want to see them. Anybody have any pics of the sceneries?

::) ::) Well, I'm not into shopping much, maybe very little. But I would love to do some horseback riding if there's enough time. I've found these trips are manic, & there often is'nt enough time to do all the things I want to do, lol

So kerry, how 'bout it? Can we find some good horses & trails & the time to do it???? Sounds like great fun!!
Dottie ;D ;D

People, you are thinking of bringing your spouses???? Isn't that like bringing a ham sandwich to a buffet????????
No really just kiddin....My traveling bud Gary wouldn't like it if I brought the bride, then he would have to spring for a room all by himself LOL
Again just funnin,my bride likes for me to go off on a trip or two by myself, she says she likes the time by herself...Himmmm go figure...how could anyone not want to go away with a semi-old,semi-getting larger,semi-nuts ole person like my own self....Yea I can't understand it either.....My bride doesn't think that looking at fish, talking bout fish,is the ideal vacation for her...good think she dosen't look at all the pics from the last two ACA meets or maybe Gary would have to get a new roomie....
Lookin forward to Denver......

There's lost of thing to do if you want to make a day trip.

Rocky Mountain Ntl. Park to the N.W.

Pikes Peak just S.W. of Colorado Spgs.

Trout fishing at Cripple Creek and 11 Mile Canyon.

Head west about an hour for shopping at Frisco.

Horseback riding just about anywhere you go.

Garden of the Gods at Colorago Spgs.

Or, if you're adventurous, try white water rafting at Royal Gorge, about a 2 1/2 hour drive from Denver.

God Mench,

Somethings wrong here. My hubby said 'now go visit Pril in canada at christmas time and then go to Denver in July and meet all your 'fish friends' who've help us so much - Ill stay here and mind the fish and Puss". ???

He thinks im mad anyway, he says to his friends 'shes gone mad you know, oneday shes in canada with pril, another day in Iraq with jack, and other days god knows where".

So if you see someone at the ACA in a white jacket with arms tied behind her back, you'll know its me.

CYA in July, Kerry

Dont worry Dottie, we can still go riding.

There's a ton of stuff to do in Denver in addition to all the things other people have mentioned. They have an Aquarium ;D ;D ;D, the Denver Zoo, Elitch's amusement park (I think it's a Six Flags now), the mountains are only an hour away, there's tons of shopping in the downtown area, and yes, there is a casino (or should I say many) only an hours drive or less from Denver at Blackhawk City. If you're into the great outdoors, Colorado is the place to be. Almost any type of outdoor adventure is available here. Climbing the 14,000 ft peaks is a favorite, as is rock climbing, and kayaking. Fishing spots are everywhere, whether you like stream fishing or lakes. If you just have an afternoon to go for a drive, the scenery is spectacular. It's a pretty great place! Looking forward to meeting everyone next summer! Beth

Denver and burbs are a great place to just be period! Love it there. People just have a laid back attitude. I am a lucky dog in that my wife has family all over up there. No begging, whinning or promises of honey-do's for me ;D

Yes there are a few casinos very close to Denver in Blackhawk City I believe it is. Hey don't forget about Estes Park either. That place is great. Its up by Golden. There are also Gold mine tours in Cripple Creek you go down several hundred feet into an old mine that is not currently producing.
