Hi all,
Just curious what you prefer here.... Do you like to have a tank that is filled completely with the same kind of discus or one that is filled with an assortment.

Personally, I think theres beauty in both types, but i find myself leaning towards monotypes for wilds.. and mixed for domestics.. What's your preferences here?

It'd be great to see tanks of juvs/adults if you have pics..

Heres one of my wilds.... heckels monotype,...

and wild greens...

but there is something appealing/artsy about a mixed tank of Discus...(old photo here.)

I have not decided yet lol. ???

I have mono and mixed.
The mixed ones are 1 with varios Wilds (would like to change that) and 1 mixed with domestic.
The other 2 tanks are 1 Domestic ( SF Red Turquise) and one with Jerry's (yogi) Babys (wild X ).

It depends on the the degree of compulsive obsession. I keep only one strain per tank. In this case, Reflection D's from Danny.

well.......i have both. all alencers and one tank of alencers and blue and rt and mp.
and another tank of reds and rt and blues.
i was told once that goldens and bd togeather or marlboros and bd togeather make a great display of colour and compliment each other nicely for a show tank. and they do tend to swim with their own strain and pair up with their own strain.
thats what id like. a two colour tank. think itd look great as adults. also id love a whole tank of one strain. ok id like everything. lol.
i think some strains would grow out beter with their own kind though. like the goldens etc. better in a big group than trying to compete with more dominant strains like alencers who have more of an attitude. my tank the alencers have overtaken all the other guys....like the mp and the bd's. even outgrew the rt which were bigger than them in the beginning. so for good growth......but as adults...heck...creative or what is eyepleasing to you is what you need. we all have different flares or ideas id say. think thats the thing i love about discus. kinda like an artists pallette.

hey brewmaster15
i think that it depends on the type of tank if you have a planted tank i think the mixed discus look better but a bear bottom tank looks better with the same strain, but that is just what i think.

p.s nice fish

thanx jarryd
