alternative food

I've read on numerous occassions that there are alternative feeding possibilites other than BBS for new fry.
Infact a number of articles i've read suggest that BBS aren't that nutritious and although are OK as a first food, you are better off giving crushed flake or ground up tablet food, which are fortified with vitamins, if you can get them to eat it.

Being a novice at this, some opinions from people with experience would be great.
