Just got back from our Christmas vacation from the island of Oahu and thought I post some pix of scenery. I haven't been there for a while and man has it change. However, this was my first time going to the winward side of the island over in Waianae to visit friends. Beautiful beaches. I also stop by Mike's place aka discus_HI. His folks crib has a great view of Diamond Head. Beautiful home Mike and thanks for the invite. He and his brother has fish that they bought from GLD as I was told.

Pix was taken with a Canon Digital Rebel with kit lens, 18-55mm or with a Canon 75-300mm telephoto. The pix was reduced in size and been optimized for the web. Total pix taken was closed to 400 shots. If you like what you see and would like to have copy of the pix for your desktop. Let me know. I can send you the original.

Hope you enjoy the quick tour.

I believe this is either Kepuhi Beach or Makaha Beach in Waianae. The day was a little overcast and was about 1 hour before sunset.

Taken with circular polarizer filter.

Believe it or not I took this shot from the back seat of the car going at around 40mph along the highway in Waianae.

This is an area in Northshore. It's next to Haleiwa.

Here's another beach in North Shore. It's near the pipeline.

This time of the month is usually when they have surfing competition. But it was so windy and the water was so choppy I didn't see any surfer. Didn't even get to see a lot of Blue Crush babe. I did however got to take a few pix. ;D ;D

I don't exactly remember which beach this is in the windward side(east). There are so much beach. I'm guessing it's Kahaluu Beach.

Hi Jun,

Good having yah over. Anytime you're in town swing on by. Those are some nice pics there, hope you folks had a nice time.

I believe the 1st BD is actually a blue panda(blue/white diamond mix) and the white one is a red mellon/golden cross, he's is a little camera shy. We do have a couple of white diamonds too and more fish hopefully on the way.

Mahalo for the pics, Jun!

Thanks for the pics Jun. Now I want to go back to Hawaii, but Kauai is still my favorite. Nice discus!

Waianae was once my home. It's funny how you take the sunset over the ocean for granted when you live there. I remember seeing the sunset from my lanai everyday. You see any rainbows. You know Hawai'i is known for their rainbows. Thanks for the memories.

The discus pictures were beautiful, but the scenery and the sunsets were my favorite! You take beautiful pictures. I want to see Hawaii for myself one day. Those pictures make me impatient :) Thanks for posting them! Mike, beautiful fish!

Hi, Jun:

Very NICE photos! I love that sunset scenery and the ocean crashing into the rocks scenery. Awesome. And, nice work done with those fry guys! I like the blue pandas (or blue diamonds?) you have there.

I need to experience Hawaii. Never been there before. I know I'd like it. I have the Plumeria trees that I've been growing for over 5 years and trying to keep them from getting the winter frost. Not easy. **Angie**

Nice pics. Tell me more about that white discus. What a beauty! Do you have any more pics? Where did you get it?

Thanks Nick,

Those fish are from Cary at GLD,

the one labeled 'white' is actually a Red mellon golden cross in very low light levels. Its actually got a little red tinge under stronger light, that one is one of my favorites, as you can see its very clean(no peper)!

Can't go wrong getting fish from Cary, he's a top notch guy and was willing to go out of his way to ship fish all the way to hawaii. ;D

Awesome! Yes, Cary is an outstanding person and discus breeder. You cannot go wrong with GLD!

Please post some more pics of that fish!
