Hi All, Hope everyone had a nice Christmas.

These are some more pics of the goldens I got from Rod.
Theyve grown heaps - and so they should - they want a feed every 5 minutes.

Kerry :)

Hey Kerry, beautiful Discus and red devil's! I'm interested in keeping a pair of red devils, could you post your tank specs and water params? Are these an easy fish to care for? What size tank would i need? Thanks for all the info!

Thanks guys - but Rod is the "guru" breeder here in Oz (Ill have another $50 thanks Rod).

FishGuru, red devils are real easy to look after. That tank is 50 gallons - 4 foot - no heating at the moment as its very hot here - but normally I keep the tank around 26-28 (celsius), they love strong currents so i have a big power head turning over 1600 litres p/h, and around 30 kilos of gravel as they love digging and making mounds out of the gravel. Dont worry about decor, theyll just wreck everything and make the tank how they want it. I also have a heater cover as theyve been known to bite straight through them :o

I have a few plastic plants in there bit theyre tied onto a big rock - he still wrecks them now and then - so i have to keep putting them back together.

if youre thinking of getting a pair, be careful - my male turned on my female so you'll need some sort of barrier for those "angry" moments or a piece of piping or something that the female can fit in and the male cant. Even after theyve paired the male can still turn - especially after the fry are removed im told - this is my first spawn so ill be putting the barrier up then.

I feed mine bloodworm, fillet steak (no fat), vegie diet mix, pellets and sometimes little feeder crayfish. I do 1 x 40 w/c per week and have a magnetic glass cleaner so i dont get bitten - Brutie (the male) has taken a few chunks out of my hand and the females given me a nip but nothing serious.

The also like bowls or something to get into - i made a cave thing when i first got Brutie but he bashed it about and wrecked it and i was worried the rocks may break the glass, so i just have a heavy bowl now.

This pic is when i first got him, the tank was only 3 foot but i have the same bowl and plants in his 4 foot. Theyre a fun fish - really more like dogs - very interactive. I can "pat" Brutie if I leave my hand in the tank so he can come and rub himself on it, but if I try and pat him before hes ready - well thats when he gets very angry. :scared:

Apart from their angry moments, theyre real easy to look after.

Hi FG, Yeah, i like angry fish too. ;D

I had the male for about 12 months and just got the female a few weeks ago.

You may find a shop that has some already paired off - one of the shops here has heaps of devils and alot of them are pairs.

Ahh, what memories that pic of Brutie brings back - no hump, no wife, no kids, he was my best buddy back then - hes a family man now - but still loves his MOM. :) hes been letting me put my hand in the tank and all the kids nibble it - feels weird having your grandkids nibbling your hand :bomb:
