Lots of you know that I was selling my fish. Well, i decided that i wasn't going to let life and it's crap take my hobby away. I'll just put in a little extra effort and get the fish taken care of somehow.

Mary (fisngal) was the one who was to buy my discus. The night before her arrival to get them, i was cleaning their tank, and I just couldn't do it!
I put alot of effort into growing them out, and they are looking quite nice.

Mary was very understanding and came up and got some angels from me anyway! it was a pleasure to meet her and her nice family.

Anyway, i also bought a new camera, so I decided to celebrat with some pics!

Thanks for all the nice words guys.

David, i am using a Nikon coolpix 4300. The last 2 pics where they look blue were done with no flash, the others where they look kind of green were done with a flash.

the camera is in manual mode and the settings I was using were:

F stop = 2.8
Shutter speed = 1/60
matrix metering
white balance = speedlight

I had the image ajustment setting set for high contrast, and the sharpening feature was off.

The image quality was set at high, which causes the camera to save as a TIFF file rather than a jpeg.

ISO setting was 200

Noise reduction feature was off, and the bracketing feature was off as well.

Along with a little help from the fish, they came out kinda nice huh?

:bounce2: :bounce2: Gosh, Rich, I'm so glad to read that you are staying with'm. It just seems so disappointing when reading 'bout the fallout from this high maintenance hobby, & yet with all life's obstacles it shouldn't be surprising at all. Your BD's are gorgeous, keep up the good work!! Wish you the best!! Pics are great!! Dottie ;D ;D

Rich,

I'm so glad to hear you aren't throwing in the towel...those are BEAUTIFUL fish and I can understand why you couldn't part with them.

I'd also like to thank you for posting your camera settings and parameters. I have that same exact camera and I've had hell figuring out how to get true to color pictures. The flash distorts the color too much and no flash just gets blurred images. The only thing that does show up well (no matter what) are the water drips on the front of the tank ;) I'll try your settings and see how that works.

Hang in there,

Kathy
