I'm thinking about getting three blue diamond for a 40g. Is that too little? If so I can't afford any more discus at $40.00 a pop. Is there some breeder online that will sell me some for cheap?

Yes, you should start with 6. Where are you located? Maybe there is a breeder or hobbyist nearby that could help you get started. We have several teens with discus posting here now and most of them don't have $40 for a single discus either.

Blue Diamonds are not that expensive. You should be able to get high quality fish for $25@. Look around the forums and you'll see plenty of posts. Lots of good sources in both SF and LA.

When the fish become adults, 6 in a 40 is not that much space. Should i sell some when they are too big for the tank?
