White spot again guys. Need additional help

hey guys,

couple of my fish are getting white spots on their body, face and pectoral fins. First day there were only about 3-4 spots now they are increasing. I have increase the temp from 86 to 90 and i have added one teaspoong per 10 gal. I clean the tank everyday when doing the wc.

Its the 3rd day, and the spot are still there. The fish are doing fine, eating good, but they do scratch from time to time.

Should i continue doing this method or should i consider medicine now? Thanks in advance.

Try at least 3 tablespoons salt per 10 gallons and try formalin at 1 cc or ml per 10 gallons for 8 hours then do a 50% water chagne add extra air. See if the formalin helps. Have you added anything that could have brought in a parasite?

no new fish no nothing... i feed them color bits, frozen hakari, and cbw...doing 50% w/c everyday. i dotn know what causes this. ???

IF i use Formallin, do i still need to add salt for it? what about the temperature?

If you are sure it is an external parasite then salt and formalin are fine together. You must add extra air if you raise tempt o 88 or so. Remember the 50% water change after 8 hours

I heard it is not good to use Formalin with high temp..is this correct? if yes, what temp shoudld i set to?

it's possible ick maybe.
If your tempt is at 90 that should kill off the ick if it's really ick.
I heard from orient that ick wont survive at 88 degree F

well i have been rasing the temp to 90 for 3 days now..and the white spots still there.

any ideas ???

i have try Fomallin last night, with 90 temp and with 3 tps of salt per 10 gal.

As of now the spot are still there.... :-[

Salt like carol said at 5tbs per 10 gals. raise temp to 92F
and add meth blue at double dose for 10 days. lots of w/c's and good cleaning's should do the job.

Sounds like a external Protozoan to Me (Costia)
Are these new discus? Did You QT from your old stock? If so more then likely it was brought in with the new Discus.

Hey Cary,

Your method works like a charm bro :thumbsup: That Malachite Green sure comes in handy this time ;D ;D I treat it with MG for about 10 hours and those white dots are gone !. I gotta do some wc later and will continue doing the treatment just to make sure those dots dont come back.

Hey Bro,
Thanks For calling! For the most part I allways tell everyone to use Blue just because its easy to Find. On the other Hand MG will work just as good but can be very dangerous if its the pure form so its best to find out what kind is being used!
the stuff You had is the cut kind very safe and easy to use!
