San Merah babies [Archive]

Thanks Guys.

I bought the fish at 2" in June 2003. They first spawned in the community tank. I moved them to their breeding tank and they spawned almost immediately. I thought that they would need a few more spawns before I can have the fries but then the eggs hatched, and....here are the babies ;D.

The parrents are not that huge. I think they are about 5"-5".5 max. The male and female is almost equal in size and I have a hard time to tell which one is a male. In fact, I have quite a few pairs of san merah with two females. At this point, I have only one Male and five Females. So, the male will need to work Overtime, LOL.

They are very equal in size and very clean.

There is nothing more fun than rasing baby discus. They are growing up every day. Yes, they are fat and healthy, always eat and eat and eat. I wish my little girl can eat as much as those baby fish. I am still learning. Trying different food on those babies. I am giving them some frozen copepods too. They love it but this food is too expensive. I bought a 3 oz bar at a local LFS for $17.00. May be I will try to buy directly from John at Jehmco.

The Fries are a little bit bigger than a quarter and they are very equal in size.

I have some inquiries from members of this board. However, most of people are out of state. I have tried to ship the fries to them but I think I will not be able to do it :'( :'( :'(. Sorry guys, I am too busy during those days so I know that it will be impossible for me to ship the fish to you.

If any of you is local here in Bay area and interested in getting those fries, drop me an email. Local pick up is working better for me.

I went over TrucDan's place when these fries were 3 weeks old and visited him again last weekend. Oh boy, those fries are growing like weed and very uniform in size and clean, also nice color. I couldn't spot the best one out of the bunch. They all looked good to me. Local hobbyists, if you want some of these fries, you better come quick before they're all gone.

There are many people who want those fries in their tank. You better send TrucDan an email if you want some so he can hold them for you. Act quick bro.

If I remember correctly, I didn't have any one named BanMenot buying my discus. Oh no, please don't give me a "Guessing game". I have quite a few people come to my place in last and this weekend so I don't know who's who.

BTW, the fries are 6 weeks old by this comming Tuesday. They are not 2 months yet. I marked their birthday when they are free swimming. It was Jan 20, 2004. Please make a note for your record ;D ;D ;D.

thai, yeh i know even reading all the other postes how did i miss this one huh lol... but yeah i already emailed truc and told him to hold 4 lil round fat ones for me... im 2 broke nowadays if i had more money i would buy more... i will get them sometime this week so ill also give you a call and see how you and your fishes are doing also...

truc, i will come get the babies sometime this week dont know when yet but ill let you know... can you give me your phone number so i can contact you... and if i cant make it down there my gf will come and get them from you for me... but its most likely going to be me though because i also want to see your other fish in person and talk to you and stuff like that... so cant wait til i go and pick up the lil san merahs...

Getting 4 little San Merah doesn't cost you that much, but checking out TrucDan's fish room and chat about discus.... you better bring alot of $$$$$....TrucDan doesn't charge you by the hour. He goes by "per minute" LOL.

I suggest that you have a pair of ear plugs on hand when David comes. Use it if you cann't answer all of his questions .....LOL.....or when he started talking "nonstop" about discus! ....:-)

I purchased 40 fry from Trucdan ... absolutely marvelous! When he has more, I suggest you jump on them if you want a high quality solid red fish! ;)

Thanks for the kind words Jeffrey and thank you for helping me to ship the fish at this very first time. It is a fun experiment but My fingers are still hurting due to the rubber bands :(. I don't know how others ship their fish but I ended up using a lot of rubber bands and a whole role of tape, lol. But I am glad that the fries made their ways to your tank safe and sound.
