Hi everyone, I'm getting back into discus after a few years off.
I live in ND and my water is pretty hard and ph is 9.1. I was wondering what to do about water for my tanks. I basically have 3 options
1) Snow. We have plenty of it here and its PH is just over 6. I could mix a little bit of tap water with it to add some minerals. Is snow safe for discus (after heating of course)?
2) Filtered tap water with Peat. Would peat soften my water enough for discus and bring the PH low enough?
3) buy an RO unit. These don't seem to be as expensive now as they were before. Would one of these serve my purpose for discus? How much would the RO unit do for PH and hardness?
