Hello all - Is there such a thing as having your TDS too low? What, if any, effects would it have on eggs or the breeders. I recently did a wc on my 29 with straight r/o which dropped the TDS down to 40ish from in the low 80's. Do hatch rates start declining again if it's too low?
I'll be sitting back waitng for everyones input. 8)
thanks
Kevin

Yes. Your pH can crash if not enough KH in tank. You've probably read posts where folks in Vancouver and other places with very soft water (low hardness, low tds) are adding minerals like magnesium and calcium to stabilize their water. Keep it between 50 and 100 tds

Hi Kevin,
To much R/o can also cause a Bacteria Bloom. Everything in the tank will slime up! eggs ,heater,filter,glass......etc..
