Forced pairing

Hi Everyone :wave:

I have to ask ;D How many of you force pair your Discus ??? What's the % that have worked when doing so???

I'm hoping for success with this pair....... The male is showing alot of interest and the female well ...... hmmmmm.... I think she'd be happier left alone. They do make a nice looking couple ::)

well, i've swapped partners between two active pairs and that worked fine. but i haven't had any success with inactive females :(
if the females aren't laying it's hard to get them to come around, i mean it's not like you can get her drunk or anything :o ;D

I force em too, but the female has to be willing to breed. Males always seem ready....lol.

Like humans, discus don't always choose the best mates,lol
So sometimes we must make the choice for them and most of the time they learn to like each other. ;D

Gosh Beth, I don't know anything about forcing pairs but I sure hope it works out with those 2, they are gorgeous. I would sure be proud to have some of their babies swimming around in my tanks. :o :o Susan

Really What I do is I try to keep all My spawning males so when I get females that lay I just add them to the older males that would make for a good match.

He sure didn't waste anytime shmoozing her....... Forced pairing apparently works.

The dates on those first 3 pics should read 2/12/04, I moved them from the community 135gal yesterday morning..... That female had not laid eggs in a few months.

She wasn't showing any interest in that male....... and as a matter of fact, this is pic of the female he spawned with a couple days ago :o
