I would like to get some opinion on this subject. Today's tank breed discus are much easier to keep and hardier than the wilds of twenty and thirty years ago. By breeding the fish that did well in captivity, the fish naturally passed on the traits that would help them survive. So with that in mind, do you think we could create and even stronger strain by raising and breeding in decorated, gavel tanks and doing weekly or even bimonthly water changes. By only breeding the fish that did well under these conditions they would be passing on the traits that would help them survive in most aquariums and LFS.
