Do I even need R/O ?

I have been considering buying an R/O system , but I just got a TDS meter from RandalB and find that my tapwater comes out at 45 ppm TDS . ph is between 7.0 - 7.2 and does not drop when aerated 24 hours or more . ph drops rapidly once in tank though . Can I raise the hardness content without raising ph ? :inquisitive:

HI,
IMO you dont' need RO, your water is very soft, probably could use minerals for discus growth.

Most likely needs carbonates to raise KH and stabalize ph.

Experiment with calcium carbonate, and epsom salt (magnesium).

It doesn't matter if your ph is raised some, stability is what is important.
