View Full Version : Difficult to obtain Meds from Veterinarians

Very Fishy

I have phoned and visited various veterinarians trying to obtain medications(metro and prazi) for treating my discus. One clinic insisted that I would have to bring the fish in for the vet to see. :bomb: Others give me a puzzled look and say that they have never treated fish before. Has anyone had success with dealing with a veterinarian?

I think most vets want to 'cover their butt'; I went to one vet and the employees there told me, they would sell metro "only to people whom we have an established relationship with". I also had a friend whose DVM brother-in-law said, "we don't deal with fish".

Prazi is a prescription medication anyway. I think a couple of people sell small quantities of it.

I've been told some people use pond prazi (haven't tried it)

Aquatronics offers metro as hex-a-mit. You can get that at most shops; even on-line.

For example:

or

From Jehmco as metronidazole:

(jehmco also lists prazi, but as a "call" product.)
