Maybe you can just post a link to an earlier thread, us old folks tend to forget if we already asked the question.

1) When you get new fish in; what do you do to/with them during the quarantine period.

2) What prophylactic measures, if any, to you routinely perform on your fish. Not how do you treat a specific disease or symptom but what do you do besides good food and water changes to ensure healthy fish.

No answer is wrong including "nutin honey".

If they're wild caught then a dip for flukes and worms is probably a good idea...

Otherwise just leave em' in the tank for a month, add a discus from your other stock and see how things go for another month...

I just watch and wait. Treat only if symptoms appear.

Hi,
Prazi for 21 days on discus (once on other fish and observe for tapeworm)

Then pipzine in food, once and observe.

Metro if needed.
furan 2 if needed.

Increase temp 88 to 90 for discus until eating well and no parasite problems.

De-worm & observe, treat as required.

If wilds then probably no tank lights for 2-3 weeks.

If possible try a "sacrificial" fish..runt or old fish in the QT tank for 2 weeks prior to adding to the main system.

Depending the origin of the fish and their history.
From local known breeders and history of the fish. Just isolate and observe for 7 days. Then isolate in breeding tank and very often spawn at the same night. Nothing is done.
Fish from unknown origin will be quarantined for 8 weeks. A full course clean up.
1. External parasites.- M. Blue. salt.
2. Gill Worms.-PP bath.
3. tap worms- Prazi. in food after taking in BH.
4. Round worms- Refish, Mebendazole, Piperazine, Flubendazole, Albendazole depending on the species mixed in food. Be very careful with the application. Major cause of death if dead worms are unable to come out due to their maga size. Bloating and constipation may cause death of fish. Best to leave them alone if in doubt.
5. Hook worms if needed.- Dyacide.
