RO unit question (ahem...RandalB?)

My RO unit has been a bit moody since I bought it 6 months ago. I bought it used from a friend who let it sit in his closet for a few months and hardly ever used it. (He would however, run some water through it from time to time to keep the membrane from drying out)

Recently though, the output rate has skyrocketed. Before it would take 3-4 hours to fill a 5 gal. bucket, now it takes about 2. Could the membrane be ready to go to that little cloud in the sky for membranes or is it just finally getting broken in?

That depends on the TDS of the product water. If it is also going up, yes, the membrane is probably shot. It might also be the temp of your feed water going up though. Check the TDS and let me know.
