Tank Stand Finish

I finished building a stand for my wifes 55 gallon tank today. She wants it black. Does anyone know if the commercial ones are stained or painted?

Wood, I'm guessing? Well, I think it's totaly preference. By commercial, u mean one's you can just buy at an LFS? They're both stained and black, whichever you prefer, as well. My preference is stained, as long as it's real wood. i think it looks so much nicer.
