Will using praziquantel at 1/2 a rounded tablespoon per 50 gallons cause a dramatic change in appetite? My fish seem to have no interest in food since dosing two days ago...

Hi,
Are you using 1/2 "tablespoon?"
If so, then do a 75% wc with aged water and same temp. Continue wc's daily at 50%.

I use 1/2 "teaspoon" for 50 gallons and after a 21 day treatment , one was not eating, some of the others were not eating all foods.

After a few days of wc's all but one were back to normal

I dosed some month old fry with prazi a couple of days ago and it hasn't affected their appetites a bit. HTH

Hey Moon,

I got PraziPro and the instructions said to dose from 5 to 7 days, wouldn't 21 days be extreme?? The dose mentioned a tablespoon per 50 gals.

Hi,
When trying to erradicate flukes, it can take up to a 21 day treatment, as eggs from the flukes are not killed by prazi, and hatching times of the fluke eggs varies.
treating every other day for 21 days usually works pretty well and the fish tolerate prazi pretty well.

I am not familiar with "PraziPro" or its doseage.

Prazipro is cut, not pure. I don't know what it's cut with or the dose though.

My understanding is that prazi is well tolerated by most fish. I am currently using it on 2 candy stripe plecos; have been for 9 days now without any problems. Can't say for bristlenose, but I doubt it would be any different.
