Last one for today --- there is also a Pigeon Blood Red behind the Fire Red. Sorry all 4" PB Red's are sold.

Thanks,

Dear Sly,

I am using the standard names that Stendker provides for their discus. The front discus in the above picture is their Fire Red, not a Marlboro Red.

Their Marlboro Red has more white striation like the pigeon and as adults exhibit more of an orange coloration than the red. Their Pigeon Blood Red exhibits more white striation with a somewhat xl spotted appearance. As for the Red Pigeon, I will look into what you are asking and get back to you.

You can review their pictures at http://www.diskuszucht-stendker.de

Thanks,
Fshngal

Dear Sly,

Have asked Mr. Jorg Stenkder your question. Jorg has been handling the breeding at Stendker for 12+ years. He has also suggested should we have questions, that Hans will be moving to the US next month and may be emailed at hans@discus_hans.nl in the future. Hans is very familiar with the lineage of the Stendker Discus.

The Pigeon Blood Red is not the standard Red Pigeon and or Red Marlboro you are referring to. It is a Pigeon Blood and Red Turquoise cross to remove the black pigeon points. This strain has been developed over many, many years with the careful hand selection of ongoing breeding stock to eliminate the black pointing of the standard pigeons.

HTH,
Mary :)

Very interesting point, Mary, regarding crossing pbs to rt to eliminate the speckling. Care to elaborate on it????

mary I am not saying that ur wong but try crossing a pigeon and a turq to see whether it add more dust or it will lessen the dust. ;) Remember pigeon are mutation from a turq.
