that should be there stress bar,
maybe:
1) stress
2) sick
I have two: one have darker vertical bars and the other have lightly faded vertical bars. I like them a lot. They are about 3 inches now and growing.

Change the water, see if that helps.

Check you water parameters and temp.
Is the ph stable or fluxuating when you are changing the water???

In my honest opinion (and experiences), if they're not sick (such as excreting white poo, body lice itching, gillwormed, etc.) then don't try to heal them. I don't know their true composition but I gather the TRs are products of a Wild Brown and Wild Red parent (with or without those vertical bars shown). Now this is assuming your water parameters are all right (since you didn't provide us stats). :)

Are they young? Mine show thier stress bars when they get excited. They tend to lose this characteristic when they get up around four inches. They show them when they are courting and getting ready to spawn. Tony
