Nice fish Jimmy!

What are the parents of the F1 cross and for the F2 did you cross back to the parents or to a sibling?

Can you post pics of the F1's and their parents?

this fish is awesome. Nice color!

Keen to know how the generation 1 looks like...

I am not convinced it's non PB..just look at the tail and anal fin black rim. ;D

This is a cross of a "brown/red" cross with a white base gold crown Ghost to breed the lines out . About 5% of the F1 has the white base white/red fish. I did not breed her. I bought her from a breeder in Japan. With that base. You can get any solid color fish with no black dust. Beleive it or not. This is the mother of the fish posted. The father is a wild red fish came from dealer in Montreal, Canada. Crossing her with a wild Tefe RSG net another different color of fish with red spots.

Hi Jimmy

nice bright fish.

But i have to agree with sly that the fish does have pigeon blood gene. The parent you are using carry pigeon blood red-white gene.

Red-white is a crossing done with Snowwhite + marboro/ melon. Marboro and melon are pigeon blood descendants.

A pigeon blood from kitti came from a brown. Snow white also came from Brown. A ghost also came from a Brown. I should have said they came from Brown discus. A non dust discus from selective breeding.

ghost didn't came from brown..from what I know it was a mutation from turquoise..kitti pigeon blood came from brown? I thought it was red turquoise? http://www.kittidiscus.com/html/pigeonblood.htm

My question is if they are non PB wouldn't the tail be clear? and wouldn't the anal fin be clear instead of having dust on the edge? Please enlighten me Jimmy.

It's a pretty fish. Nice deep orangy color too. Got three that looks like it.. called "Goldens" (and I've heard them referred to as "Tangerines" and "Pigeon Flowers"). ;D They're still nice looking despite the names given and their composition.

That Wild Red looks also much like a Santareem Red. Nice colors on it, it's gorgeous. Congratulations.

Very interesting combination Jimmy.

Did you grow out any of the white fry or only the barless reds?

pigeon blood is a mutation from turquoise.
ghost is a mutation from cobalt.
snowwhite is another mutation off ghost.

The golden is about the only mutation from a brown that I am aware of. Maybe the albino too but not sure on that.

Jimmy, looking at your cross combination, I tend to agree with the others, that your f1 has pb genes, but in the end, it's only you that know the true genetic base. Anyway, nice looking fish. Hope you can develope some lookers down the road.
