Hi guys,

I have read on the forum that most people keep their young discus on ph around 7 to 8ish with no problems. My ph from the tap is around 8 ish. my question is what is the best way to accumulate the new fish that has been kept in ph 6.5?

should I lower the ph to below 7 and raise the ph over the next few days?

or gradually add the tank water with the ph 8 in to the fish bag over 20 mins or so?

Regards,

Jim

I would go with option #2 except I would probably do it a bit more gradually.

1. Empty the bags with the fish into a five gallon pail.

2. Run an airstone in the pail during acclimation.

3. SLOWLY add warm, aged tank water to the pale over, say, 45 minutes or so.

4. Grasp the fish with your hand and carefully add them to your tank.

5. Do NOT add any of the water from the bucket to your tank.

6. Have fun!
