I am not sure these fish really exist! I keep hearing about them on this board but where are the pics!
They do exist but are still very very rare, heres a pic of one i snapped at Vinson Chua's discus farm.
Aw man, what a lovely discus ;-)
Nice pic, Rod!

Nice Discus!
But that discus at 3" will cost You about $300 or More USA.
Also Keep In mind that it looks to be only a 3" discus in the pic
So buy looking at it very closely this tells Me forsure that This discus has been Hormoned very hard!

Cary the greater,
Do YOU HAVE ANY PICS OF GLSS?
Cary the lesser
IMO that is not a gold lep ss.
The pic I posted below are consider the intermediates Golden LSS.

This is the real stuff..no stress bars.

I agree with you Cary regarding the amount of hormones that fish was likely fed, from memory it was about 3" to 4" long.
Nice pic-up on the stress bar Sly, i wondered that myself if it was intermediate golden or not. The intermediates you posted don't look hormoned, what size and age are they?
Rod
about 4.5 to 5" and less than a year old I assumed.

Please educate the rest of us- What is the distinction "intermediate" all about? What is the heritage of these 2 strains?

Great pics!
I recently purchased a gold spotted LSS from Cary. Just wanted to know what these bad boys would look like at an adult age. I had NO idea fish could be hormoned, a little research is needed in my part :-[
My fish is about 3" and is very gold and orange on the fins, execellent fish! He doesnt have his spots yet but cant wait for the color up! So far out of all my fish this guy is my TOPS! THANKS CARY! Sorry I cant post a pic but i am working on it!
Hi Jaydoc,
I'll try and answer your question but Sly please step in if i am not right.
The golden discus is a mutant form of golden colored brown discus that does not carry any stress bars. When the pure golden is crossed to another strain a percentage of the babies will be the golden color but will show the stress bars, these are called intermediates and are not as valuable as the ones without stress bars.
