I have two blue discus in a 110 lt (650 cb.inch) aq (pH=6, GH=6, KH=2, temp=85-86, NO3=0, NO2=few, NH4=0). Three weeks ago, one of them laid eggs on the filter. Next day some of them (about 30), turned white and the rest stayed brown. The next two days, the number of eggs diminished gradually and finally disappeared. This happened 2 more times with an interval of a week each time, always from the same discus. During the period that the eggs were on the filter, the discus was trying to turn the other away and periodically it approached the eggs (trying to eat them, or to help them hatch?)
1. Why some of the eggs turned white?
2. What colour have the fertilized eggs?
3. Is it possible my discus are both female?
4. Can I use distilled water sell in the market?

1. Why some of the eggs turned white? dead eggs turn white
2. What colour have the fertilized eggs?live eggs are golden amber to reddish amber, fertilized eggs turn black after about 24 hours or so
3. Is it possible my discus are both female? could be or could be the male is young
4. Can I use distilled water sell in the market? no need to - your water is fine for hatching eggs
