Does anyone know the major differences?

Same fish - different name?

Different genetic make-up?

Specific differences in actual color?

Thanks...

From my understanding, the mandarin passion is a red melon crossed with a golden. And the Red passion is a golden crossed with a red based brown. www.ivanseahdiscus.com to learn more on the red passion.

Just what Ryan said. There is a difference, but both are nice fish.

both are beautiful in their own way and both are red fish. Red Passion came out some 4-5 years ago and Mandarin just came out lately..They might be long distance cousins. ;D ;D :P

I'm always confused ;D

The reason I ask is because I've seen the MP's in person but I've only seen photos of the RP's.

I agree that both are very nice. Is there something in the coloration that distinguishes the two? i'e., black fins vs. pale fins, is one more prone to peppering, etc...

The best of either will show little peppering.
